Our next event will be Makana Waipa, an evening fundraiser that will feature 5 chefs from Kauai and Oahu, a bounty of Waipa grown produce, and way too many invasives on Saturday, September 30th!

We hope you and your ‘ohana can join us at the Music and Mango Festival at Halulu Fishpond on Sunday, August 13th from 11am-5pm. It will be a great family day right on beautiful Hanalei Bay… celebrating the summer’s mango harvest with a variety of educational and artisan displays, recipe contest, cooking demo, live music, amazing food, more.

For the keiki, we will have a huuuuge waterslide as well as other fun stuff…Parents, did you know that if you volunteer, not only do you and your helpers get in free, but we also give you festival kala? To help out for a 2-3 hour shift, call Stacy at 639.1815.

Those interested in having a booth at the festival or in entering our biggest mango contest or receipt contest can call Kalen at 652.6236. We will post the musical line up and a full list of activities in the days just before the festival, so check back here or on facebook/instagram!

At the urging of festival supporters, volunteers, partners and others, Waipa staff have decided to reschedule the Kalo Festial to Sunday, December 18th.

We will post a full poster once festival entertainment is confirmed or updated, hopefully in the next few days.

We are very sad but cancelling Kalo Festival due to public safety concerns since the forecast and radar continue to indicate heavy rain and possible thunder storms.

We are excited to announce “Eat the Invasives”, the first of a dinner series at Laukupu, our new Community Kitchen & Hale Imu.

Guest chef Michael Madigan of KitchenCru & Bowery Bagels in Portland Oregan, has created a 6-course menu including wine pairings. Featured ingredients include Lilikoi, Java Plum, Tilapia and Venison, along with other invasive plants and wildlife. Learn why and when these species were introduced to Hawai’i and how they affect today’s ecosystem.

This event is a fundraiser to supoort the work of our foundation — a living learning center focused on caring for our natural resources, practicing Hawaiian culture & values, and inspiring healthy keiki and community.

Cost is $125 per person. Seating is limited.
