2019 a huge success!

Waipa Foundation partners with Kona Brewing Company to host a cultural culinary experience annually.

On Saturday September 28th 2019 we had a full house of over 325 people who enjoyed chefs and cultural practitioners from across the islands whom collaborate to highlight invasive produce and animals, along with other ingredients, sourced from Waipa and the surrounding ‘aina to create one of a kind dishes.

We want to express deep gratitude to all those who helped us to coproduce such a fabous community event and fundraiser to support Waipa’s work.

Eat The Invasives Friday Oct. 28th

We are excited to announce “Eat the Invasives”, the first of a dinner series at Laukupu, our new Community Kitchen & Hale Imu.

Guest chef Michael Madigan of KitchenCru & Bowery Bagels in Portland Oregan, has created a 6-course menu including wine pairings. Featured ingredients include Lilikoi, Java Plum, Tilapia and Venison, along with other invasive plants and wildlife. Learn why and when these species were introduced to Hawai’i and how they affect today’s ecosystem.

This event is a fundraiser to supoort the work of our foundation — a living learning center focused on caring for our natural resources, practicing Hawaiian culture & values, and inspiring healthy keiki and community.

Cost is $125 per person. Seating is limited.
